Luckily no one was hurt in this accident, but it took the cops forever to start directing traffic so I could go around this. Actually, it was a fireman who started directing traffic even though two policemen were on the scene.

Mysterious BMr Day 30
We were headed to downtown Atlanta for a meeting and saw this BMR that no one had ever seen before. This was a close as I could get for a picture, but it had a dealer's tag on it. Very cool car.
Holly Hill Mall - where I work? Day 29
The sign to the entrance of where I work....sort of. Yes, my building is in a shopping center and is an old Wal-Mart store. Using the term "mall" to describe this shopping area is not exactly an accurate description.
On the way to work Day 28
Intersection that I cross to get to work. The town I work in is split by a railroad track with only one place in the entire town to bypass it via an underpass.
My Scrapbook Store Day 25
My personal scrapbook store. What you can't see are all of the "bins" on the top of the top rack that contain my (probably) 100 sets of clear CTMH stamps.
Speeding to Work Day 24
This is how fast I was driving when I took this picture. My eyes were on the road, I promise!!
Morning Construction Day 23 2/2/09
I am sooooooooooo behind on my picture a day!! I may have to "cheat" a bit to catch up. :)
They are laying pipe along the road and have to block off traffic in the morning to do so! Aggravating!

Mystery Science Artifact Day 22 1/27/09
I think I may have promised more biology pictures and here's one. Do you know what this is? Be careful, it can stare back!

Cookie Monster Day 20 1/25/09
This is one of my sons and if given the choice between cake and cookies, he'll go for his grandmother's sugar cookies any day! If the cake was chocolate, then I'm sure it would be a much more difficult decision. This child will eat an entire plate of her sugar cookies if given the chance.
Uncle Betty's BBQ - Day 19 1/23/09
Going home Friday night, I asked my kids where they wanted to eat and they both agreed on Uncle Betty's BBQ. I only wish I had not already eaten dinner that night because their food is sooo good. At least they left me a bite of pork.
Folk Art Explained Day 18 1/22/09
We have set up a small gallery in our central office and my district's Fine Arts Coordinator needed to take a picture of the back of a piece of art so he could show the explanation of the art next to the piece itself. In this particular genre of folk art, the artist explains the story behind what they painted on the front. This is just a piece of plywood. I'll have to get a picture of the front as well.
Video Conferencing System Day 17 1/21/09
This is the mounted Polycom video conferencing systems we have in our central office. We were getting ready to have a conference with some people at GaTech when I took this picture.

Fetal pig sectioned Day 16 1/20/09
This is a science exhibit that just arrived at our central office. I thought it was fake until I was corrected. It is in fact a sectioned fetal pig encased in fluid between two hard plastic plates. Ewww!! The other side shows the outside of the pig. This is my Asst. Superintendent of Curriculum who is holding the pig as she walked our halls announcing, "It's show and tell time!"

BHS Class of 1989 Day 15 1/19/09
This weekend I met back up with some middle school classmates of mine from Burlington, KS through Facebook. What a walk down memory lane! I scanned in some pictures that I had and then remembered that a former teacher had sent me a commencement book. These were pictures of the graduates. Yes, it was a very small town!

Sleepy pup Day 13 1/18/09
This is Baxter, my Bichon Frise. He likes to perch on the top of the sofa cushions, curl up, and sleep.
One man tent...in my living room Day 11 1/16/09
I came home from work to find this pitched in my living room. It had just arrived earlier that day. My sons decided to try out the new "one" man tent together. It looks big, but it's a tight fit for two.

La Tour Eiffel Day 10 1/15
This is a little Eiffel tower (obviously) on a bookshelf in my office. This was actually brought in as a "show and tell" for extra credit and the student never took it home.
Notice the picture to the left? That's Chenonceau, a castle in France, and that's me sitting on a ledge. I was 21 at the time. The picture to the right is of a group of my students on one of our trips to France.

Winder Sunrise Day 9 1/14
It's sometimes hard to get a clear day around here and the sunrise was really beautiful.
Oak Rest Pet Gardens - Day 8 1/13
This is a pet cemetery that I pass on the way to work every morning.
A sign of the times - 2: Day 7 1/12
This is a neighborhood that was cut in, paved, and now abandoned. Barrow County where I work is one of the fastest growing counties in Georgia and in the nation (percentage growth) yet the economy has obviously hit it hard like it has everywhere else. Another view of the same neighborhood.

Cows on the way to work: Day 6 1/11/09
I pass this pasture every day on my way to work. Today there were a tone of cows out there as compared to last week. I was going to get a shot then, but there were only two outside as I drove by. It's funny sometimes how they will all be facing the same direction. That wasn't the case the morning I took this so I may have to try for that shot on another day.
Maya : Day 5 1/10/09
This is one of my two dogs. Maya was a stray who showed up in my neighborhood one day. We already have a 15lb bichon frise, which my boys don't really care for. He (Baxter) is somewhat of a yappy dog and they've been asking for a larger dog for quite a few years that they could really wrap their arms around. Well, along came Maya. My sons took to her immediately and after they fed her (without my permission) of course she stuck around. By the end of the week, we had officially adopted her.
Being the only other girl in the house, she and I are best buds. She's such a sweet dog, unless she viciously barking that is. I can't imagine not having her.

Days 1 - 4
Since I'm behind on creating this blog to feature my pictures, I'm going to post these first four together. Yes, I'm just lazy that way.
My Cluttered Office! - Day 1-1/6/09
This always seems to be a problem with me!! I don't want to put in the time to clean my desk because I HATE having to find a home for everything.Wikispaces Temporary Cause of Panic: Day 2 1/7/09
Wikispaces flaked and right in the middle of an edit I was doing! I had no idea what was wrong so I hopped onto Twitter to find that it was a huge outage and nothing to do with my school system's network. Within minutes there must have been between 15 - 20 of us wondering what the heck was going on. Just goes to show how dependent we've become on sites like that.My son's rootbeer bottle collection- Day 3 1/8/09
I have twin boys (13 yrs old) and one of them loves to collect things...all kinds of things. How he got started on a collection of root beer bottles I'll never know, but he enjoys it. Yes, there is a stray Sprite or 7up bottle in there, too. I don't so much mind the fact that he collects them, but I would prefer that he dust them from time to time.Where I work - Day 4 1/9/09
After realizing that my first three pictures were all "inside" shots, I took this one this morning before pulling into the parking lot where I work. If you can't tell or haven't seen an "old" one recently, our Board of Education office is an old Wal-Mart. It's actually pretty nice on the inside. Maybe I can take some pictures later to include in this challenge.365 Picture Challenge
I participate in a social network called Plurk, one of many that I dabble in, and discovered that a group of Plurkers were participating in a picture challenge to post a picture a day beginning January 1. I joined a few days late, but am hoping that this is one challenge (unlike the few in the past that I've tried) that I may be able to stick to or at least be somewhat successful at completing.
We have a group on Flickr called 365random where we can post our pictures. I think for me that "random" was key. I doubt I could stick to a theme for 365 days. Thankfully, having a Blackberry with a decent camera has so far (and should continue to) made it easy and convenient to take pictures and upload them. It's great having a Flickr app to handle the uploads and so far it has worked each time.
So am I up for the challenge? I might not be as tenacious as this squirrel trying to get these nuts off the tent spike, but I plan on trying!
